On 24th September 2024, Dadvance Agarwood Solutions was honored to participate in an agarwood education program organized by the Malaysian Timber Industrial Board (MTIB). The event took place in Melaka, and its focus was on promoting sustainable agarwood cultivation in Malaysia. This program is essential in demonstrating how sustainable practices can help conserve agarwood and assist new planters in adopting eco-friendly methods.
Our founder and Group Acting Managing Director, Mr. David Liew, played a key role in this initiative. Under his leadership, Dadvance Agarwood Solutions has been a strong advocate for sustainable agarwood cultivation. We have been selected as one of the official inoculant providers by MTIB. This partnership is a result of research done two years ago with the Forestry Research Institute Malaysia – under the 12th Malaysia Plan. Our work aligns with the country’s environmental goals, aiming to support local agarwood planters and reduce the strain on wild agarwood populations.
Partnering with MTIB for Sustainable Growth
Dadvance Agarwood Solutions is one of MTIB’s chosen inoculant providers. We contribute through ongoing research, especially under the 12th Malaysia Plan, to boost sustainable agarwood production.

The threat to wild agarwood is becoming worse every year. Overharvesting and illegal logging have caused a rapid decline in wild agarwood, making it more important than ever to promote sustainable practices. MTIB has ramped up its efforts to support local planters by providing resources, education, and guidance. These initiatives ensure that Malaysia’s agarwood industry can continue to grow without harming natural resources.
This is the reason why CITES bans Laos agarwood exports.
Sustainable agarwood is not only important for Malaysia but for the global market as well. Agarwood is in high demand worldwide, used in perfumes, incense, and traditional medicines. As demand increases, Malaysia has the opportunity to become a global leader in agarwood production. Sustainable cultivation methods are key to balancing commercial production with environmental conservation.
MTIB’s Efforts in Supporting Local Planters
MTIB has increased its support for local planters in recent years. They offer resources and guidance to help farmers adopt sustainable methods, securing agarwood’s future in Malaysia.
Looking ahead, the future of Malaysia’s agarwood industry looks promising. With the support of the 12th Malaysia Plan, government initiatives, and increased awareness, Malaysia is well-positioned to lead in sustainable agarwood cultivation. By continuing these efforts, Malaysia could soon be recognized as a global leader in ethical agarwood production.
In conclusion, the combined efforts of MTIB, local planters, and innovators like Dadvance Agarwood Solutions will strengthen Malaysia’s position as a top producer of sustainable agarwood. With continued dedication, we aim to put Malaysia on the world map as a leader in eco-friendly and sustainable agarwood practices.
